Why this date — the science
Traditional Ganesha-murtis were made of pure river-clay + natural pigments. Visarjana (immersion in water on the 10th day) returned this clay to the river — closing the ecological cycle. The festival was an annual REDISTRIBUTION of clay across rivers — the riverbed + the soil benefited.
Ayurvedic wisdom
Modaka — steamed rice-flour shell stuffed with grated coconut + jaggery + cardamom. Steaming makes it light + non-aggravating to digestion. Coconut-jaggery is high in healthy fats + iron. After 1-2 days of monsoon-disrupted appetite, the modaka revives digestion gently.
