Northeast (Ishanya) · ईशान्य (Īśānya)

Lord: Ishana (Shiva)ईशान

Governs - Spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, prana, divine grace.

Best for - Pooja room, water-storage, tulsi, well/borewell, open courtyard.

Avoid - Toilet (worst defect), kitchen, master bedroom, heavy storage, staircase.

+ Brahmasthan (the central pada)

Brahmasthan (केन्द्र / kendra)

What - The exact geometrical center of the house. The seat of Brahma in the Vastu Purusha Mandala. The naval-point of the dwelling-being.

Why - Brahmasthan is where prana enters + radiates. Blocking it suffocates the entire dwelling-organism. Family-leader stress, repeated illness, financial instability all trace to a blocked center.

  • MUST be kept open + unobstructed.
  • No pillar, no heavy almirah, no toilet, no kitchen in the center.
  • Floor-level only - no staircase passing through, no overhead loft.
  • Ideally a small open atrium / skylight / chandelier / tulasi-vrindavan above.
  • If a structural pillar is unavoidable in the center, paint it light + place a Ganesha or tulasi nearby + offer haldi-kumkum weekly.

Part 2 - Vastu Purusha Mandala (वास्तु पुरुष मण्डल)

What - A 9x9 grid (81 padas) on which the cosmic Vastu-Purusha lies face-down, pinned by the 45 devatas. Each pada is governed by a specific devata. Building on this grid aligns the dwelling with cosmic intelligence.

Origin - Vastu-Purusha was a demon born from Shiva-Andhakasura battle-sweat. He grew uncontrollably + threatened all three worlds. The 45 devatas pinned him face-down - head to NE, feet to SW, arms outstretched east-west, knees + elbows folded. Brahma blessed: anyone who builds on his back honouring the 45 devatas with proper Vastu rules will receive prosperity; whoever violates him invites his rage (vastu-dosha).

Orientation - Head - Northeast (Ishanya). Feet - Southwest (Nairutya). Right hand - Northwest. Left hand - Southeast. Heart + navel - Center (Brahmasthan).

NW
NE
B
SW
SE

9x9 = 81 padas. Center 3x3 = Brahmasthan. Center pada (B) = Brahma. Corners = head (NE), feet (SW), hands (NW + SE) of Vastu-Purusha.

9 regions + their devatas

RegionDevatasBest use
Northeast head (3 padas)Isha + Aapa + AapavatsaPooja, meditation, study, water-source.
Northern rowSoma + Bhalata + Mukhya + NagaCash, treasury, entrances, north-facing windows.
Northwest handVayu + Roga + PapaGuest room, toilet, storage.
Western rowVaruna + Asura + Pushpadanta + ShoshanaChildren's bedroom, dining, storage.
Southwest feetPitru + Dauwarika + Sugriva + BhrishaMaster bedroom, heavy almirah, vault foundation.
Southern rowYama + Gandharva + Bhringaraja + MrigaHeavy walls, southern boundary thicker.
Southeast handAgni + Pusha + Vitatha + GrihakshataKitchen, electricals, fire-altar.
Eastern rowIndra + Surya + Satya + AntarikshaEntrance, living, prayer-corner, morning-sun.
Center (9 padas, Brahmasthan)Brahma (central pada) + Aryama + Vivasvan + Mitra + Bhudhara + Apavatsa + Indra + Indrajaya + RudraKeep open. The lung of the house.

Use - Architect overlays this 9x9 mandala on the plot. Each room is then sited on the padas whose devatas favour that activity. Modern Vastu pandits use a simplified 8-direction + Brahmasthan model for residential - full 81-pada is mostly for temples + grand mansions.

Part 3 - Room-by-room placement (20 rooms)

1

Main entrance (Mukhya-Dwara) · मुख्य द्वार

Ideal direction - North, East, or Northeast (best). West acceptable. South + Southwest avoid.

Why - East entry catches morning sun (Indra); North entry attracts Kubera-wealth; NE entry receives Ishana-grace.

Keep - Auspicious threshold (toran), Ganesha + Lakshmi above door, doormat with Om/Swastika, brass nameplate, daily threshold rangoli or kumkum-tilak.

Avoid - Shoes pile-up inside, broken/squeaky door, peeling paint, dustbin near entry, dark colours (black/dark-grey).

Defect (if mis-placed) - Entry in SW or directly facing toilet/kitchen - instability + repeated financial loss.

2

Pooja room (Deva-Griha) · देवगृह

Ideal direction - Northeast (Ishanya) ONLY. Worshipper faces East or North.

Why - Ishana is Shiva's own quadrant - most sattvic. Morning prana flows from NE.

Keep - Idols not taller than 9 inches (home worship), feet on a small pedestal, deepa to the SE corner of altar, fresh flowers, no photo of deceased relatives mixed in.

Avoid - Idols facing each other, broken/cracked idols, pooja room under staircase, attached to toilet, in bedroom.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Pooja room in bedroom or under stairs - disrespect, disturbed sadhana, no spiritual progress.

3

Master bedroom (Shayan-Kaksh) · शयनकक्ष

Ideal direction - Southwest (Nairutya). Sleep with head to South or East - NEVER North.

Why - SW grants stability + rootedness for the head-of-family. Head-south aligns with earth's magnetic field (north-pole repels north-head).

Keep - Solid wall behind head, bed wood-framed, light pastel colours, photos of couple together (not separate), small Lakshmi-Narayan or Krishna picture.

Avoid - Mirror facing bed, beam over bed, plants in bedroom, TV facing bed at night (cover), single-piece beds (joints break unity).

Defect (if mis-placed) - Master in NE - restless sleep, financial drain, marital instability.

4

Children's bedroom (Bal-Kaksh) · बालकक्ष

Ideal direction - West (Paschima) or Northwest (Vayavya).

Why - West (Varuna) = profit-from-effort + completion - supports study & exam-success. NW (Vayu) for growing-children-energy.

Keep - Study-desk facing East or North, bed-head to East/South, light bright colours, motivational + deity pictures.

Avoid - Heavy mirrors, dark colours, gadgets at sleep-time, head-direction to North.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Child bedroom in SW - sluggishness, defiance toward parents.

5

Guest room (Atithi-Kaksh) · अतिथिकक्ष

Ideal direction - Northwest (Vayavya).

Why - Vayu (wind) = movement / impermanence - guests come + go. NW prevents long-stays.

Keep - Light bedding, fresh flowers, glass of water, basic toiletries.

Avoid - Heavy permanent-storage of guest's items, valuable cash/jewels here.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Guest room in SW - guests overstay, displace owner's energy.

6

Kitchen (Paaka-shala) · पाकशाला

Ideal direction - Southeast (Agneya). Stove faces East. Sink in Northeast corner OF kitchen.

Why - SE is Agni's quadrant. Cook facing East (rising sun) sanctifies the food. Sink in NE corner brings water-element to fire-quadrant safely (water > fire only locally).

Keep - Stove + cylinder separated by 6+ inches, drinking-water pot in NE of kitchen, salt in airtight jar, clean exhaust, daily diya near stove.

Avoid - Stove + sink adjacent (fire+water clash), stove facing entrance, dustbin near stove, kitchen sharing wall with toilet, non-veg cooking at altar-facing wall.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Kitchen in NE - chronic illness in female family-members, repeated financial drain. Remedy: paint pale yellow + Agni-kund photo in SE corner of kitchen.

7

Dining room (Bhojan-shala) · भोजनशाला

Ideal direction - West or South (close to kitchen, family eats facing East or North).

Why - West (Varuna) = completion, fulfilment. South for digestion. Always face East/North while eating - improves digestion + receives prana from food.

Keep - Family eats together at one table, small Annapurna picture, water-jug on table.

Avoid - TV/phone during meals, eating facing south/west, eating in bedroom.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Dining in NE - wealth drain (food being a Lakshmi-form).

8

Living / drawing room (Baithak) · बैठक

Ideal direction - North, Northeast, or East.

Why - Northern quadrants receive max sunlight + prana. Heavy seating (sofa) should be in SW corner of the room (host sits SW facing NE).

Keep - Sofa in SW corner facing NE, glass-vases or crystal on NE side, family pictures + landscapes, light pastel walls.

Avoid - Heavy furniture in NE corner, broken clocks, taxidermy / dead-animal art, war/violent paintings, cactus or thorny plants.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Living room in SW only - host feels burdened, visitors drain energy.

9

Study room (Adhyayan-Kaksh) · अध्ययनकक्ष

Ideal direction - East or Northeast. Student faces East or North while studying.

Why - East = Indra (knowledge-clarity). NE = Ishana (wisdom-grace). Saraswati seat is NE.

Keep - Saraswati picture on wall above desk, desk-lamp on left for right-handers (right for lefties), study-globe on west, clock on north wall.

Avoid - Back to door, mirror reflecting books, beam over head, electronics on study-desk except lamp + computer.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Study desk facing south or west - poor concentration, exam-fear.

10

Bathroom + Toilet (Snan-griha + Shauchalaya) · शौचालय

Ideal direction - Northwest (Vayavya) or West (Paschima). NEVER NE, NEVER center, NEVER SE (kitchen-clash), avoid SW.

Why - NW (Vayu) carries waste-air away. West (Varuna) for water-drainage. NE toilet is the WORST Vastu-defect.

Keep - Toilet seat facing North or South (not East/West), exhaust fan, daily sea-salt bowl, door closed when not in use.

Avoid - Toilet sharing wall with kitchen or pooja, toilet in NE (relocate or remedy with pyramid-yantra + monthly sea-salt purification), open visibility of toilet from entry.

Defect (if mis-placed) - NE toilet - chronic wealth blockage + female-family disputes + childlessness. Strongest remedy: relocate. If not possible: place a pyramid yantra above ceiling + sea-salt + camphor monthly + cover the toilet-seat with sandalwood-paste during pooja days.

11

Septic tank (Mala-tank) · मलकूप

Ideal direction - West or Northwest (downward flow away from kitchen + pooja).

Why - Septic must be on the side waste-air can dissipate (NW = Vayu) + must never share wall with kitchen-wall or pooja-wall.

Keep - Sealed, vented, regular cleaning, well below kitchen floor-level.

Avoid - Septic in NE (worst), under main entrance, under bedroom.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Septic in NE or under entry - severe health + financial drain. Remedy: relocate; otherwise extensive vastu-shanti homa annually.

12

Staircase (Sopana) · सोपान

Ideal direction - South or West. Always rises clockwise (when ascending, right-shoulder to wall).

Why - Staircase carries downward-prana flow when descending - keep in south/west so it weighs the heavy quadrants. Clockwise = pradakshina-direction.

Keep - Odd number of steps per flight (15, 17, 21), railing, handrail on right while ascending.

Avoid - Staircase in NE (worst), in center (cuts Brahmasthan), spiral-staircase if avoidable, staircase facing main entrance, anti-clockwise rise.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Stairs facing entry - wealth runs out the door. Remedy: partition + Ganesha at first step.

13

Storage / store-room (Bhandar-griha) · भण्डारगृह

Ideal direction - Northwest (Vayavya). Grain storage in SW also acceptable.

Why - NW for items in regular movement (toiletries, supplies). SW for long-term grain/heavy storage (stability-quadrant).

Keep - Labelled containers, no open foods, neat shelves, no broken items stored 'just in case'.

Avoid - Junk + broken items (creates vastu-tamas), storage in NE.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Storage in NE - clutter that blocks prana. Remedy: clear + donate.

14

Cash locker / safe (Tijori) · तिजोरी

Ideal direction - North (Kubera) wall. Door of the safe opens TOWARD the North. Safe itself rests against South wall, facing North.

Why - Kubera (north) is the wealth-lord. Opening-toward-north = receiving Kubera. Wealth must come IN through the north-facing door.

Keep - Lakshmi-Kubera yantra inside, gold/silver coins, important documents, Goddess Lakshmi photo on top, weekly haldi-kumkum.

Avoid - Locker facing south (wealth flows out toward Yama), locker in basement, jointly visible from main door.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Locker facing south - chronic wealth-loss. Remedy: reverse the locker so door opens northward.

15

Tulsi plant (Tulasi-Vrindavan) · तुलसी वृन्दावन

Ideal direction - Northeast or East. Front yard / courtyard / open-balcony in NE.

Why - Tulsi is Lakshmi's form. NE is Ishana = max-sattva. Tulsi oxygenates + purifies prana day-night.

Keep - Raised platform (vrindavan), daily watering at sunrise, lamp at base on Friday/Tuesday, never pluck on Sunday/Ekadashi.

Avoid - Tulsi in south or southwest (withers + brings bad luck), tulsi inside bedroom, neglected pot.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Tulsi withers despite care - usually a vastu-dosha; consult pandit, perform a small Lakshmi-vrata, replant.

16

Water storage / borewell / well (Jala-Sthana) · जलस्थान

Ideal direction - Northeast or North. Underground tank in NE, overhead tank in SW (heavy on top of stable quadrant).

Why - NE = jala-element + Ishana. Water in NE attracts wealth + grace. Overhead tank in SW because SW is the gravity-anchor.

Keep - Covered, clean, periodic salt-purification, separate drinking + general water.

Avoid - Underground tank in SW (instability, accidents), borewell in SW.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Borewell in SW - repeated mishaps + financial loss. Remedy: seal SW well + dig new one in NE.

17

Heavy furniture / almirah (Bhari-Saamaan) · भारी सामान

Ideal direction - Southwest corner of any room. Bed in SW of bedroom, sofa in SW of living, almirah in SW of room.

Why - SW is the stability-anchor - gravity belongs here. Heavy items in SW keep the dwelling-being grounded.

Keep - Almirah doors opening toward East/North, mirror inside (not outside) of almirah doors, valuables behind a Lakshmi-Kubera yantra.

Avoid - Heavy items in NE (suffocates the head of vastu-purusha).

Defect (if mis-placed) - Heavy almirah in NE - chronic stagnation. Remedy: relocate to SW.

18

Plants + garden (Udyana) · उद्यान

Ideal direction - East, Northeast (small shrubs only - NO tall trees in NE that block sun). North, Northwest also good.

Why - Plants in east + north add prana + cleanse air. NE must remain open to morning-sun.

Keep - Tulsi, banana, jasmine, lemon, mango (NOT in NE), sandalwood, neem in SE/SW (medicinal).

Avoid - Cactus, thorny plants (chronic friction), bonsai (stunted-growth metaphor), large trees in NE.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Big tree in NE blocking sun - stagnation, no progress. Remedy: prune / relocate (consult arborist before removal).

19

Office desk / workspace (Karyalaya) · कार्यालय

Ideal direction - Face East or North while working. Desk in N/NE of room. Boss-cabin in SW.

Why - Facing N/E receives sun-knowledge-grace. Boss in SW = stability + authority over the office's vastu-purusha.

Keep - Saraswati or Ganesha small idol on desk-left, healthy plant on east-side of desk, water-pot in north.

Avoid - Back to door, beam over head, mirror behind back, desk facing south/west.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Desk facing south - career stagnation, no promotion. Remedy: rotate the desk; if room-layout forbids, place a north-facing photo of Surya at eye-level above the south wall.

20

Car parking (Garage) · वाहन स्थान

Ideal direction - Northwest (Vayu = movement). Southeast acceptable. Vehicle-nose pointing North or East when parked.

Why - NW Vayu favours vehicles (which move). Vehicle pointing N/E receives morning-prana when leaving.

Keep - Clean garage, no clutter, small Hanuman / Vahana-devata photo at entrance of garage.

Avoid - Parking in NE (vehicle weight crushes Ishana), parking in front of main door blocking entry.

Defect (if mis-placed) - Parking in NE - repeated vehicle problems. Remedy: relocate parking to NW; if unavoidable, dedicated Hanuman puja monthly + tilak on vehicle.

Part 4 - 30 common Vastu problems + remedies

Format: Problem → Effect → Remedy. Traditional remedies - apply as supplementary to structural fixes, not in place of them.

1

NE corner has toilet

Effect - Wealth blockage, family disputes, female-illness, no childbirth.

Remedy - Best: seal + relocate toilet. If not possible: place a sea-salt bowl + camphor monthly; install a pyramid yantra above the ceiling of that toilet; never use it during pooja days; close door always.

2

NE corner is cut / missing (vastu-dosha)

Effect - Chronic illness, loss of mental peace, no progeny, no spiritual progress.

Remedy - Install a brass kalasha with water + tulsi at the missing-corner spot. Place a golden-brass Sri-yantra pyramid. Perform an annual Vastu-shanti homa. If owned, consider construction-extension to fill the corner.

3

SW corner has main entry

Effect - Instability, financial loss, accidents, family-leader stress.

Remedy - Keep this door always closed (use as secondary). Install a Vastu-yantra above the door. Use a North/East door as the daily-use entry. Daily kumkum-tilak on the SW threshold.

4

Kitchen in NE

Effect - Health issues, female-family disputes, recurring fever, financial drain.

Remedy - If non-relocatable: paint walls pale yellow + place a small Agni-kund photo in the SE corner OF the kitchen + cook facing East + never let stove face the NE entry of the kitchen.

5

Master bedroom in NE

Effect - Restless sleep, financial drain, marital discord, head-of-family illness.

Remedy - If non-relocatable: do not sleep there - use as guest room or library. Move actual master-couple to SW room. If forced: sleep with head to East only.

6

Toilet sharing wall with kitchen

Effect - Female-family health issues, cooking-related illness, food contamination at energy-level.

Remedy - Install a mirror on the dividing wall facing the toilet side (reflects negative energy away from kitchen). Install separate ventilator for each. Never store food against that wall.

7

House faces South (unless owner has strong south-favourable astrology)

Effect - Financial struggle, delayed projects, repeated obstacles.

Remedy - Install a Vastu door-frame yantra at entry. Keep a small Hanuman idol facing the door. Daily morning kumkum-tilak on the threshold. Consult a Vastu pandit for a personalised remedy.

8

Beam over bed

Effect - Headaches, neck pain, oppressive sleep, marital tension.

Remedy - Relocate bed away from under beam. If not possible: install a false ceiling to hide the beam, or hang a bamboo flute (Krishna's flute) at each end of the beam.

9

Mirror facing bed

Effect - Disturbed sleep, marital discord, fragmented soul-projection.

Remedy - Cover the mirror with a cloth at night. Best: relocate mirror or use a wardrobe-door mirror that stays closed at night.

10

Sleeping with head to North

Effect - Magnetic disorientation (north-pole repels north-head), ill health, restless sleep.

Remedy - Switch head to South (best for longevity) or East (best for learners + sadhakas). Re-orient bed.

11

Live plants in bedroom

Effect - Sleep disturbance (plants exhale CO2 at night), respiratory issues.

Remedy - Remove all live plants from bedroom. Dried bouquets / small bamboo ok. Move plants to living + balcony.

12

Aquarium in SW

Effect - Wealth drain (water in stability-quadrant erodes accumulated wealth).

Remedy - Relocate aquarium to North (Kubera) or NE (Ishana). 9 fish (8 gold + 1 black) is the auspicious number.

13

Pooja room inside bedroom

Effect - Disrespect to the deity (bedroom = rajas-tamas activity), no spiritual progress.

Remedy - Best: relocate altar to a separate small pooja room or open balcony NE corner. If forced: screen the altar with a curtain at night and ensure no shoes/intimate items face the altar.

14

Black / dark colours dominate the entry

Effect - Negative energy build-up at threshold, visitors feel oppressed, depression-prone.

Remedy - Paint walls warm cream / light yellow / pale-peach. Add a diya / lamp near the door (lit at sunset). Welcome-rangoli daily.

15

Broken / cracked / chipped idols in pooja room

Effect - Broken idol carries broken-energy vibrations, invites negative pranas.

Remedy - Immerse the broken idol respectfully in flowing water (visarjan in a river or sea). NEVER repair-glue an idol. Replace with a new one consecrated through prana-pratishtha.

16

Doors creak / squeak / catch

Effect - Daily friction translates to family arguments, accident-proneness.

Remedy - Oil the hinges daily for one week. Sprinkle gangajal on door-frame. Check + tighten screws. Replace damaged door.

17

Stagnant water in NE (leaking pipe, broken NE container)

Effect - Wealth loss, stagnation, female-family illness.

Remedy - Drain immediately. Repair leak. Clean the area weekly with rock-salt water. Place a fresh tulsi pot if appropriate.

18

Vault / cash locker facing South

Effect - Wealth flows OUT (south = Yama-direction). Repeated financial outflow.

Remedy - Reverse direction so the locker-door opens toward North. The locker-back rests on the South wall.

19

Tulsi placed in South / Southwest

Effect - Tulsi withers repeatedly. Bad luck because Lakshmi-form is being denied her quadrant.

Remedy - Relocate the Tulsi pot to NE or NW. If the plant dies, replant immediately with new tulsi seedling on a Tuesday or Friday. Daily watering + Tulsi-puja.

20

Bed in middle of room (no wall behind head)

Effect - No 'support' feeling, anxiety, restless sleep, fragile-relationships.

Remedy - Align bed-head to a solid wall (preferably South wall - head to south). Solid headboard if wall not possible.

21

House on T-junction / V-cut road (vastu-vedha)

Effect - Road-traffic prana stabs the house, accident-prone, repeated mishaps.

Remedy - Install a convex mirror facing the incoming road (deflects energy). Plant 2 Ashoka trees in front. Place a Hanuman / Vastu yantra above the main door. Daily morning kumkum-tilak.

22

House under high-tension electric wires

Effect - Constant electromagnetic unrest, irritability, sleep disturbance.

Remedy - Place a Kubera yantra near entry. Install a 9-mukhi rudraksha at the threshold. Plant tulsi + neem in front. Consult a Vastu pandit for a homa.

23

Staircase visible directly from main entry

Effect - Wealth + prana 'runs up + out' (sees the stairs going away). Money drain.

Remedy - Screen the stairs with a wooden partition / curtain / sliding door. Place a Ganesha at the first step.

24

Cracks in walls (vastu-purusha injury)

Effect - The vastu-being is wounded - family illness, slow accidents, household quarrels.

Remedy - Repair the cracks immediately with proper plaster (not a quick-fix). Daily kumkum-tilak on each crack-line until completely healed. After repair, perform a small kalash-puja.

25

Underground water tank in SW

Effect - Instability, accidents, financial uncertainty, family-leader weakness.

Remedy - Best: fill the SW tank with sand + rebuild new underground tank in NE. If not feasible: perform annual Vastu-shanti homa and avoid storing drinking water in SW tank.

26

Mango / papaya / large tree in NE

Effect - Blocks morning sun + prana flow to the most sacred quadrant.

Remedy - Prune to allow sun penetration. Relocate or remove (consult an arborist + obtain expert opinion - tree-removal is controversial). Plant a small tulsi in its place if removed.

27

House missing NE corner (NE-cut plot)

Effect - No progeny, financial loss, no spiritual progress, family-leader stress.

Remedy - Install a golden brass Sri-yantra pyramid at the exact missing-corner spot. Plant a Tulsi-vrindavan there. Annual Vastu-shanti homa. If owned, structurally extend the corner.

28

Center (Brahmasthan) occupied by pillar / heavy almirah

Effect - Family-leader stress, instability, repeated illness, financial drain.

Remedy - Best: redesign to keep center open. If a structural pillar is unavoidable: paint it pale colour (white / cream); place Tulsi or a small Ganesha near it; daily haldi-kumkum tilak; never store heavy items at the center.

29

Two doors directly opposite each other (entry + back-door align)

Effect - Energy passes straight through without settling - wealth + opportunities fail to accumulate.

Remedy - Screen one door with a curtain. Hang a wind-chime mid-passage to slow + scatter the energy. Place a partition or potted-plant in between.

30

Money plant placed in SW

Effect - Wealth-blockage (money-plant placed in stability-quadrant binds wealth from growing).

Remedy - Relocate money plant to NE or NW. Place it in a green/yellow pot. Train vines upward (not drooping).

Part 5 - Vastu-shanti corrective rituals

Vastu-Shanti Homa · वास्तुशान्ति होम

What - The classical fire-ritual for pacifying Vastu-Purusha and the dwelling-devatas. Invokes the 9 grahas + 45 vastu-devatas + 5 dik-palas + Brahma.

Procedure - Setup: 1 kalasha (water + mango leaves + coconut) at NE. Yajna-kund at SE of homa-mandapa. Invocation of Ganesha, then Brahma + Vastu-Purusha, then 9 grahas (one ahuti each), then 45 devatas (collective ahuti), then 8 dik-palas. 108 final ahutis of til + ghee + sugar + samidha. Purna-ahuti with coconut. Conclude with kumkum-tilak on every wall + door-frame + brahmasthan.

When - (1) Before occupying a new home (griha-pravesha). (2) After major renovation. (3) Annually if known vastu-doshas exist. (4) After repeated misfortunes traced to the dwelling.

Vastu-Purusha Pacification (daily 21-day) · वास्तुपुरुष शान्ति

What - A daily simple ritual for pacifying any vastu-purusha agitation - useful as a follow-up after a dosha is discovered or repaired.

Procedure - Each morning for 21 consecutive days: (1) Light a diya at NE. (2) Sprinkle gangajal on all room thresholds. (3) Place a small offering of black-sesame + ghee + jaggery at the brahmasthan. (4) Chant 'Om Vastoshpataye Namah' 108 times. (5) Apply kumkum tilak at the four corners of the house at floor-level.

When - After any vastu-correction work. Also during Adhika-maasa or Bhadrapada (avoid heavy ritual in Pitru-paksha).

Pyramid Yantra Placement · पिरमिड यन्त्र

What - Brass / copper / crystal Vastu-pyramids are placed at specific vastu-doshic spots (above NE-toilet ceiling, at brahmasthan, at missing-corners) to concentrate corrective energy.

Procedure - Energise the yantra in a Bilva-leaf bath + 108 chants of 'Om Vastoshpataye Namah'. Place at the dosha-spot at a Tuesday or Friday morning. Once placed, never move except for cleaning (Tuesday only). Sprinkle gangajal weekly.

When - Anytime as a supplementary remedy. Best installed during griha-pravesha or Akshaya-Tritiya / Vasant-Panchami.

Kalasha-Sthapana (water-pot installation) · कलश स्थापन

What - A copper or brass kalasha filled with water + 5 leaves + coconut + kumkum, placed at the NE corner to anchor positive prana.

Procedure - On a Tuesday or Friday: fill the kalasha with clean gangajal / well-water. Add tulsi leaves + 5 mango leaves + 1 coconut on top + a red cloth tied around. Place at NE corner with a small Saraswati / Lakshmi photo behind. Refresh water every full-moon.

When - Daily-presence remedy. Useful for NE-missing or NE-defective houses.

When to consult a professional Vastu pandit

Consult when -

  • Building from scratch - Vastu integrated into architectural design saves enormous later remediation cost.
  • Major renovation involving demolition of walls / addition of floors / change of entry.
  • After repeated misfortunes that don't trace to other causes - chronic illness in one quadrant, financial loss only after moving in, persistent disputes despite no obvious cause.
  • Before purchasing land - to assess plot-shape, road-direction, slope.
  • When buying / renting a flat - to assess direction of main entry, kitchen, master bedroom.

Whom to consult - (1) Licensed architect with Vastu certification. (2) Sthapati (traditional Vastu-shilpi from an established lineage). (3) Pandit specialised in Vastu-shanti for the ritual aspect. Always verify credentials + ask for references - Vastu has many self-styled experts.

Red flags - Avoid: anyone demanding huge fees for 'urgent' remediation, anyone selling expensive crystals as the sole remedy, anyone refusing to give written documentation, anyone who creates fear without offering proportionate remedies.

Disclaimer - Vastu Shastra is a traditional Hindu architectural framework. SevaCart presents this for cultural literacy. Vastu compliance is NOT a substitute for structural engineering, fire safety, or municipal building codes - those are mandatory; Vastu is supplementary. Remedies suggested are traditional, not scientifically validated. For major construction or chronic issues, consult both a licensed architect AND a qualified Vastu pandit; this page is educational, not a replacement for either.
