For gurukulas
A gurukul (traditional residential school) or Veda pathashala runs on food, teaching and upkeep. Each of those can be listed as a cause people can support.
Why institutions list here
Vidya-daan, stated plainly
Vidya-daan (the gift of learning) works best when it names a real cost: a student’s meals for a month, teaching materials, or a teacher’s honorarium.
Annadana alongside teaching
Feeding students is usually the largest recurring cost. It can be listed as its own cause under the same institution.
No platform fee on contributions today
Verified causes carry no SevaCart platform fee at present, and the gateway charge is absorbed by SevaCart.
Records that hold up
Every completed contribution is on the public ledger, and 80G receipts are issued by you where you hold that registration.
How it works
Create the account
One account per person, not one per institution. Register with your phone number, verify it, and you land on your partner dashboard.
Add the institution
Name, address, trustee or manager details, and the documents below. You can add more institutions later from the same account.
Complete KYC
PAN is checked against MCA records and the bank account is validated by a penny-drop through our payment partner. A signed board resolution or power of attorney is required.
Publish and receive
Once review clears, your sevas and causes go live. Money reaches your verified bank account after the payment gateway releases the funds, and SevaCart keeps only the disclosed platform fee.
What we commit to
- No anonymous account ever receives devotee money. PAN and bank verification are completed before anything is listed.
- Every completed offering is written to a public ledger, with the institution named.
- The seva amount is never SevaCart revenue. Our fee is published in full on the pricing page.
- You control your listings, prices, slots and cancellation windows from the partner dashboard.

Questions gurukulas ask
What is the institution type for a gurukul?
Register under the Gurukula type. It asks for the primary cause, the number of students and staff details, rather than temple deity fields.
Can a mutt-run pathashala register separately?
Yes. It can be added as a separate institution under the same partner account, or carried as an additional type on the existing institution.
Do we need 80G to receive contributions?
No. 80G registration is needed only if contributors are to receive an 80G tax receipt. Without it you can still receive contributions.
Who decides how the money is used?
You do. Contributions reach your verified bank account and the institution is accountable for using them for the stated cause.
